Niles home lost to fire

NILES — Some Niles residents lost their home to a fire late Wednesday morning.

At 9:30 a.m., the Niles Township Fire Department was called to the corner of Oakview and Circle drives at Birchcrest Estates. A fire had broken out in the trailer, and all those inside had escaped without injury.

The department and the city of Niles firefighters fought the flames, but the home was lost, said township fire chief Gary Brovold. No nearby buildings were damaged.

A state fire investigation took place at the scene, but the cause of the fire was not determined, Brovold said
